Triton Canada is a Canadian background screening company most people meet in one of three ways, and if you landed here you probably ran into them one of three ways: you were told to get a police check through the Ontario Provincial Police's online portal, which Triton operates; a gig platform like Uber sent you a screening email from them; or an employer pointed you at their site. Uber's Canadian driver screening runs through Triton and covers two things: a motor vehicle record check and a criminal record and judicial matters check (CRJMC). Uber's posted processing time is about three to five business days, with results uploaded to your driver profile automatically. The platform chooses its own screener, so this is not a channel where you pick the provider; for status questions, use the contact options in Uber's screening email.
If you live in an OPP-policed community in Ontario, police record checks, including vulnerable sector checks, run through the portal Triton operates for the OPP: $41 for a record check, and $90 if fingerprints are required. So when does Instant Record Check make sense instead? When the choice of provider is yours. When the choice is not yours, use the channel the organization named: OPP-community residents needing an OPP check use Triton's OPP portal, Uber drivers use the Uber screening flow, and vulnerable sector checks always go through the police service.
